THE RENOWNED CANADIAN COMPANY REFLECTS ON ITS LEGACY WHILE LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
Quebec-based furniture retailer Maison Corbeil is thrilled to celebrate 50 years of providing Canadians excellence in craftsmanship, and a commitment to democratizing the world of design. Part of Home Société Group (G2MC), parent company of home furnishing brands MUST, Jardin de Ville, and concept store Home Société in Ontario, Maison Corbeil is synonymous with creativity and originality.
For 50 years, Maison Corbeil has brought design-forward furniture to Canadians by producing locally made furniture lines influenced by international trends and by being one of the first retailers to offer cult-favourite European brands such as Ligne Roset, Cattelan Italia and Ethnicraft in Canada. To commemorate this significant milestone, Maison Corbeil is proud to spotlight a range of their most iconic furnishings from the last 50 years, while looking ahead to the continued expansion of the brand across Canada.
“
Good design never gets old.
That’s why we’re proud to take the opportunity of our 50th anniversary to showcase the many best-selling products we carry that were created years, even decades, ago. Like them, we strive to stand the test of time. Years of product design, conversation and travel went into shaping the new Maison Corbeil identity you see today, with bigger and more inspiring stores offering our unique customer experience. Our goal moving forward? Expand this concept across Canada.

HISTORY
1973 – FOUNDING OF MAISON CORBEIL
On the heels of the 1967 Montreal Expo, Canadians’ appetite for international influences and European design began to grow. In 1973, after realizing there was a gap in the market for highquality European brands, Colette Corbeil, along with her husband Raymond, founded Maison Corbeil. The vision at the time was to be able to offer contemporary and modern pieces to Canadians seeking an alternative to the popular colonial and American styles of the time. This was highlighted by the addition of renown French brand Ligne Roset to their collection in 1980, including the introduction of the line’s famed Togo sofa, which also celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. A reference point for modern luxury, Ligne Roset provided Canadian customers the opportunity to embrace the contemporary, design-forward lifestyle the Corbeil family strives to put forward.
1982 – INTRODUCTION OF LOCAL PRODUCTION
Maison Corbeil opened a new store in Montreal, followed by surrounding cities such as Laval. This expansion paved the way for the local production of their product offerings in partnership with Quebec manufacturers. For the first time, the Corbeil family introduced a shop-in-shop section across all its stores, dedicated to locally made furniture and accessories.
2005 – Democratization of Design
By the early 2000s, the Corbeil family realized that in order to grow the business, they needed to speak to a broader clientele, namely one seeking the same high-quality items at a more accessible price. As a result, Maison Corbeil increased the size of its stores and expanded its offering with a wider selection of furniture at a range of price points. It was at this time that the Corbeil family unveiled MUST — a new collection that answered the need for more modern and cutting-edge furniture and accessories at accessible price points.
2019 – ONTARIO EXPANSION
With a desire to bring their vision of design to the rest of Canada, the Corbeil family set its eyes on Ontario with the launch of a one-stop-shop for inspiration under one roof. Housing all of its brands, including Maison Corbeil, MUST, Jardin de Ville, Ligne Roset and other European lines, the Home Société concept store was born.
Located in Toronto’s celebrated Design District on Caledonia Road, Home Société has brought decades of design expertise and exceptional local and international brands to even more Canadians. The family also enhanced the customer experience with the addition of design services like window coverings, custom wallpapers and in-store cafes and restaurants.
2023 – GENERATION CORBEIL
Today, Colette’s sons, Éric and Stéphane Corbeil join her in bestowing the company’s valued heritage to the family’s third and youngest generation. With the family’s legacy of intuition and savoir-faire, the company continues to offer loyal and new customers alike an enticing selection of sought-after, accessible designs.
ICONIC DESIGNS
To celebrate fifty years in business, Maison Corbeil entrusted Montreal-based photographer duo Leda & St.Jacques to spotlight a collection of their most iconic products from 1973 to today. Presented like a design exhibition, the in-store installations will allow customers to interact with these icons, and learn more about their history from the creators to their arrival at Maison Corbeil. Among the iconic designs featured are: Togo (Ligne Roset), Ploum (Ligne Roset), Natalie (Flou), Kabuki (Kartell), Componibili (Kartell), Timeout (Conform), Skorpio (Cattelan Italia), Harley (Gamma) et Bok (Ethnicraft).
LOOKING AHEAD
Maison Corbeil’s 50th anniversary is not just a reflection on their past, but a launchpad for a future filled with opportunity. With a fresh perspective and renewed vigour, the brand is ready to elevate itself to even greater heights. This anniversary signifies the beginning of a new era, one marked by innovation, creativity, and a commitment to exceptional design. This includes their growing expansion across Ontario, with a new MUST store set to open in Heartland Town Centre, Mississauga, by the end of the year, and a new Home Société and MUST location coming to downtown Toronto early next year.
